Vacation Time šŸ–ļø

As of this Friday, I’m on vacation for the rest of 2023!

No travel plans for this one. If you read my post about my Digital Nomad dreams, that will likely be my upcoming travel once I get all my residency paperwork an pick a path to take.

This vacation for me, will be about working on myself, expanding some hobbies and if at all possible, forgetting completely about work for a few weeks. I’m feeling some burnout and really am looking forward to a mental break before having mental break. A few weeks ago at work I had what could have been an anxiety attack during work and I’m not looking to repeat how that felt. Let’s begin two weeks of no thoughts on work and just some hobbies!

šŸž To build upon my post about bread earlier, I’m looking to expand that hobby during this time. I’m not very good at making dough so this free time could be a great opportunity to improve. When I watch YouTube video about making bread, they all seem to look at a dough coming tougher and just know what it needs. I never have a clue. More water? more flour? I don’t get it. So my plan is to just.. try and fail a lot. Make a bunch of shit bread and figure it out. Flour is cheap.

šŸ“– Also, hoping to do some more reading. Reading that isn’t about becoming a better manager, or team building.. yuck. Good for the career, bad for the mind. I just sadly finished the last Anthony Bourdain book that I hadn’t read yet and it’s bummer since there won’t be any more. Ever. I do have a Tom Hanks book waiting here for me that should be a nice read.

If you haven’t read the Anthony Bourdain books, they are all pretty fantastic. Just a very gritty and real look into what much have been a very very hard life of back breaking labor. He didn’t “make it” until his mid 40s when his first book got big and he started getting picked up by TV networks to do the dream of being paid to travel and eat things.

If you’re not planning on it already, I encourage you to also explore giving yourself a bit a of a mental rest and recharge this holiday. It’s not all about gifts.
